Prince Odi Okojie has now released a statement concerning his political ambition, and the slot of Deputy Governor of Edo state.

“My attention has been drawn to various campaigns on-going online about the upcoming election in Edo State later this year,” said Prince Odi Okojie in his statement.

“The campaign mainly by young people (youths) and students from Edo State and my local government, is that I should vie for the position of Deputy Governor in the state. This is based on the premise that since the party zoned deputy governorship slot to Edo Central where I am originally from, I should represent various interests in the area.”

“This is a gesture I appreciate; it is a good thing for people to recognize your good work and want you to serve especially when one has been supportive without being in government.”

“I want to make it clear that the position of deputy governorship is not a position one campaigns for, the party leaders alongside members chose who flies the party’s ticket alongside the governorship candidate. However, I am available to serve in whatever capacity the party wants me to serve.  I am a loyal party member.”
“Most importantly, the people of Edo State deserve much more than what they are getting from the present government.”

“Good governance is not what is seen on the pages of newspapers, good governance reflects in the lives of the governed. People of Edo State can testify themselves if they have gotten the best from the present government. The people know they got the wrong end of the stick. Good governance is not PR, it is value-adding.”
“In whatever way things swing in Edo State, I am an interested stakeholder in the happenings in my state and a visionary individual who believes good leadership coupled with youthfulness can turn the whole of Nigeria and Edo State around without unnecessary noise.”

“I will continue to engage relevant stakeholders in Edo State regarding this matter.”
“I once again appreciate the various youth associations, students union, all the higher institutions in Edo State and women who want me to show interest in the upcoming election.”

“I will continue to help my people with or without political power as I have always done without being in government. I believe in the popular saying that, ‘ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country,” read the statement.

EDO 2016: Youths Urged Nollywood Actress, Mercy Johnson's Husband To Run.

Prince Odi Okojie, handsome husband to popular and talented Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson, has signified interest to push for his nomination as Deputy Governorship candidate on the platform of the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in the fast approaching Edo State gubernatorial election.

The Uromi born prince is said to be enjoying massive support from students and youths across the state due to his accessibility and his philanthropic disposition.

The youths who cut across party leanings are said to be making  serious agitation for Okojie to be nominated by the PDP which has zoned the Deputy Governorship slot to Edo Central Senatorial District where Mr. Okojie hails from.

A source who pleaded to remain anonymous revealed that some selected popular Youths' and Students' Leaders in Edo State paid a surprised visit to the Lekki mansion of the Okojies over the weekend urging him to come out and show interest in the race.

They argued that he's young, accessible, humble, well travelled and versatile and as such he's eminently qualified to be chosen as a running mate to any aspirant from Edo South Senatorial District  preferably Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

The source further revealed that Mr. Okojie was almost moved to tears when the youths who arrived Lagos in a bus confidently told him that he has what it takes to win election for the PDP, stating that if nominated they will traverse the length and breath of the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State campaigning and that his wife, Mercy Johnson would also have no choice but to mobilize her colleagues in the entertainment industry to campaign for him.

An ally of Mr. Okojie confirmed this development, but stated that the Prince will have to consult widely as some notable politicians within the senatorial district are also interested.

He opined that if PDP really desires to dislodge the ruling APC, they should pair a relatively young, credible and unstained Okojie with a popular candidate from the Bini speaking part of Edo State which has the highest number of registered voters.

He went further to say that "it is now easier for the PDP to win the election convincingly because  the ruling party in the state is in disarray over the choice of a suitable person that can be its flag bearer in the coming election"

" It will also interest you to note that majority of Edo people are disenchanted with Governor Adams Oshiomhole's administration for lack of performance and his harsh policies in this second term in office and as such, people are prepared to vote out the APC and any candidate anointed by Oshiomhole" He added

Some of the youths have since flooded the internet with Prince Odi Okojie's posters, asking the PDP to nominate him during the Party’s primaries, prompting a lot of people from his Uromi hometown into jubilation.

Others are however pleading with him to contest for the Governorship so that their favorite actress can be the First Lady,
